About

The Clifton Garden Society was started in 1993 when an open meeting was held to find out about the probable level of support leading to the first AGM being held in January 1994, when a constitution was adopted. The constitution stated that “Membership shall be open to gardeners and others interested in gardens”.

The Society does not hold a meeting on the same day of every month, but arranges a wide range of activities at varied times. We arrange talks by gardening experts both at the AGM and at our Christmas Event. From February to October, there is at least one visit to a garden, stately home or gardening show each month. These vary between full day and half day visits by coach. A short holiday break of five or six days is arranged each year, visiting different parts of the country. Our AGM is held in April each year and a Christmas Gathering is usually held in late November or early part of December. The Society publishes a quarterly newsletter at the beginning of the month and this together with our website are our principal means of communication with our members. Contributions from members are welcome.
